I am registered to complete an online course, how do I get to it?

How do I find my username?

Your username is provided via email once online courses are accessible. Make sure to review the spam folders.The email will be sent from Donotreply @ donotreply.view.usg.edu.Your username is BP, which is for Best Practices, and your Professional Development System number. Do not use any spaces, for example: BP38500. The initial email contains information that is then used to set up your password.

I'm having password or login problems, what should I do?

  • Passwords are case sensitive and usernames are not. Please ensure you are typing the information correctly. Also, make certain you are logging into the proper address of http://strategic.view.usg.edu
  • If you have forgotten your password, click on the “Forgot Password?” link on the login screen below the username and password boxes. Fill in your username and click on the “Retrieve My Password” button. A message will be sent to the email address you had in the PDS when you first registered.

How do I change my password?

           After you have logged into Desire2Learn, select the Password link in the My Settings area in the Welcome Box found on                 the left side of the screen. Enter your old password, your new password and enter it again to confirm it. Click the “Change                 Password” button to process the change.

I cannot view the podcast or video, what do I do?

When you sign into your online course, and want to view a video or podcast you may see this prompt:"This page contains both secure and non secure items. Do you want to display the non secure items?" , if this is what you see, select "YES". Or the prompt may read "Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely? This webpage contains content that will not be delivered using a secure HTTPS connection, which could compromise the security of the entire webpage, select "No".

What you select will determine whether or not you are able to view the content. It is important that you make the selection that will allow you to view ALL content, both secure and unsecure.

I have finished my online work, now what do I do?

You should print your scores for quizzes and/or assignments. Check your course syllabus to see if there are additional requirements for your course. To print your scores login to the online system and select your course.  From the top of your course screen select grades, then on computer screen, select file, and then print. Keep a copy of your scores with your paperwork.

How do I enter Best Practices Trainings into the Professional Development System?

Any training sponsored by BFTS (Bright From The Start) and administered by GSU/BP (Georgia State University / Best Practices) is updated int he Professional Development System (PDS, formerly PDR) within a few weeks of completion. Do not submit certificates of attendance to the PDS.

What happens if I do not successfully complete each portion of my training?

While  a certificates of completion will be issued for each part of the training that is successfully completed.

How do I know if training has been canceled because of weather/ what is the inclement weather policy?

Tune in to WSB-TV (ABC) or radio stations WSB 750 AM and WSB 98.5 FM for the latest information on weather-related public school system closings in the State of Georgia. 

In the event of inclement weather, Bright from the Start coordinated training will be canceled if public schools are closed in the county where training is to be held. For example, if a Bright from the Start coordinated training is scheduled in Rome, Georgia, and public school classes in Floyd County aare canceled, then the training is also canceled.
